WASHINGTON, DC — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Sunday (March 17) hailed the management and results of the Russian presidential elections that saw Vladimir Putin secure six more years in office.
“You’ve got to say, this was a really well managed affair,” Trump told supporters during a rally.
In the run-up to the Russian elections, opposition candidates were barred from appearing on the ballot, citizens protesting Putin’s rule were arrested, and firebrand opposition figure Alexei Navalny died in mysterious circumstances while in prison.
Heavily armed security personnel were also present across Russia at the voting centers.
Observers noted that Trump’s statements came hours before the official results were posted.
“I think we can all learn from how these elections were handled,” Trump continued. “You can be certain we are taking notes from Russia for my run in 2028. We can’t have any interference in the democratic process as we saw in 2020 and now in 2024.”
“The Democrats will do anything to cheat their way to victory.”
