TEL AVIV — Israeli developers published plans in early April detailing how they would build luxury beach homes in Gaza once all the Palestinians are eventually pushed into Egypt.
While Israeli forces zero-in on taking over the southern Gazan city of Rafah, which nearly all observers say will push the humanitarian crisis in beleaguered Strip to the brink, discussions are ongoing about what to do once the bombs stop dropping.
“Obviously there is enormous potential here,” said David Levi, head architect of the developer group Bright Horizons.
Bright Horizons on April 2 published a series of photos on social media showing various beach home models, with some showing the billowing smoke of war in the background.
“Gaza has some great views of the sea,” Levi said. “Who wouldn’t want to live here?”
The luxury homes are currently slated to sell between $750,000 and $1,500,000.
“The main issue here is the Palestinians obviously,” said Levi’s colleague Asher Cohen. “Once we get them into Egypt, some real development will finally happen. Well-to-do Israeli families will be thrilled with the views and all the amenities we plan to offer.”
